As a District Court Judge, I work every day to ensure that the resources you have or how you appear in court does not determine the outcome of your case. Every litigant, lawyer, and victim expects and deserves a judge who will ensure that their voices are heard and that the process treats them with dignity and fairness. As a Superior Court Judge, I will continue my dedication to ensuring justice for all. I have built strong court and community partnerships that have made Mecklenburg County courts a national model in procedural fairness and evidence backed court practices. As Chief District Court Judge, I was known as a collaborative leader with the conviction and creativity to solve some of the toughest problems facing our district. I am a fearless judge who has demonstrated the conviction and courage to make the tough decisions required by the law–regardless of my personal opinions or risk of public backlash. I will protect the rights of all North Carolinians without fear or favor. I balance the demands of career and public life with long walks on the greenway with my husband of 23 years and our dog, yoga and cycle classes. Our three children are graduates of East Mecklenburg High School. We love traveling to Chapel Hill to visit our boys at UNC and watching our youngest son cheer for the Heels. My greatest joy is gathering and cooking for family and friends.
